The most notable advantages of a WEY Allocation System are the realisation of the free seating concept, joint access to expensive data sources and the flexibility of the system architecture. Keyboard, mouse, video and audio signals from data sources are distributed to the workplaces using deskswitches.
The WEY Allocation System is independent of any operating system, network or data service, and it helps to reduce IT infrastructure costs. The superb quality of the system, its flexibility and modular concept guarantee a rapid Return On Investment (ROI).
All the signals can be transmitted using structured in-house cabling of Category 5 or higher. Although we can use either shielded or unshielded twisted pair cable, we recommend shielded cable when possible as this reduces the impact of environmental influences. The system is so structured that distances of up to 300m can be achieved with full resolution and without signal boosting using twisted pair cable, and 4000m using fibre optics.
Heat emissions from computers are cooled more efficiently in a climate-controlled system room than in the office environment. Depending on the specific equipment at the desk, the overall energy balance can be improved by more than 20% - savings which mean lower operating costs. Users also benefit from lower noise emissions when computers are relocated to a system room.
The WEY Solution can be designed to eliminate all single points of failure and achieve very close to 100% system reliability. All critical system components use dual power supplies.
The structure of the WEY Allocation is basically modular. This means that it is almost always possible to add extra data sources or workstations without significant costs.
Depending on the number of workstations required, select a micro-system which is optimised for a group of up to 8 people, a mini-system, or a standard system which enables 500 users to access over 250 sources.
